The Parenting Buzz is here to support parents of children with additional needs in Australia.

 

I am Felicity and I created The Parenting Buzz to help parents find the information they need all in one place.

 

My youngest daughter has been diagnosed with an extremely rare neurodegenerative condition called IRF2BPL - related disorder. (It's also known as NEDAMSS - Neurodevelopmental Disorder with Regression, Abnormal Movements, Loss of Speech and Seizures). She also has Autism and ADHD diagnoses.  She is now unable to walk and is in a wheelchair full time. She attends multiple therapy sessions every week and we are very fortunate to have a wonderful medical 'team' to support us.

 

As part of my Early Childhood Teaching degree, I studied special education. I have taught many students with additional needs and disabilities. I taught as a classroom teacher full time for 11 years, then became a relief teacher for a few years after having my children. I have now taken a step back from teaching while I care for my two daughters and take my younger daughter to many medical and therapy appointments.

With all my knowledge as a teacher, my lived experience of parenting a child with multiple disabilities and my love of researching and building my knowledge in this area, I decided to create my own website to help other parents find the information they need without having to spend hours looking for it.
